This clear division of roles guarantees an effortless, white-glove transition into a beautifully ordered home.
The Movers: You hire a premium moving company to pack, transport, and place your boxes within your residence.
Our Scope: We take over immediately post-delivery, focusing exclusively on unpacking, spatial layout design, and flawlessly organizing every room.
Rates

Standard Rate
$70 per hour, per organizer.
4-hour minimum booking per session, per organizer.
Travel & Errand Pricing
Standard Commute: Free travel within a 15-mile radius (30-mile roundtrip). Distances exceeding this boundary are billed at $0.76 per mile per organizer.
On-the-Job Errands: Driving done during an active session (such as product shopping or donation drop-offs) is billed at our standard hourly rate per organizer.
Errand Mileage: All miles accumulated while executing active, on-the-job errands are billed at $0.76 per mile.
We specialize strictly in precision unpacking and design optimization once your moving company has placed all boxes in their destination rooms. We do not provide physical moving trucks, box transport between rooms, or heavy furniture lifting.
Note: Complex Projects: Life transitions, downsizing, hoarding situations, or highly complex spaces are subject to specialized project pricing, which will be carefully evaluated and quoted during your initial consultation.

Project Scope & Operational Boundaries
Moving Company Logistics & Fees: Sort Theory is strictly a professional organizing and unpacking service. The selection, hiring, scheduling, and direct payment of professional moving companies, transit trucks, and physical transport labor are the sole responsibility of the Client.
The Transition Line: Sort Theory’s physical labor begins only after third-party movers have completely cross-transported, unloaded, and placed all packed boxes into their final, designated destination rooms. Sort Theory team members do not cross physical thresholds to haul boxes between floors, transport heavy furniture, or navigate unplaced cargo.
Organizing Products: Product costs (bins, dividers, hangers, containment units, etc.) are separate from service fees. To provide a seamless, premium service, Sort Theory handles all product curation, procurement, and physical shopping logistics. Tailored supply budget ranges are customized during your in-home consultation, and a 100% deposit of this estimated supply budget is required prior to sourcing.
Shipping & Delivery
Shipping fees, delivery surcharges, or courier costs incurred when ordering custom products or specialized materials for your space
Disposal & Donations
Additional fees apply for hauling away or donating items. Pricing depends on volume and weight; travel and drop-off time are billed at our standard hourly rate plus mileage (billed at the current standard IRS rate of 76¢ per mile).
Third-Party Vendors
Coordinator fees or direct costs for hiring external service providers such as junk removal haulers, shredding services, or professional cleaners.
Structural & Carpentry Work
We specialize in space optimization, sorting, and product implementation. We do not install structural built-ins, wall shelving, or perform carpentry work. If your project requires structural modifications, we are happy to coordinate with your preferred handyman or contractor.
Specialized & Hazardous Labor
Environments involving heavy lifting, structural navigation, or safety hazards (including hoarding, mold, or pest risks) require specialized labor and safety measures. Premium hourly rate adjustments or flat safety fees are finalized in writing during your initial consultation before work begins.
Unforeseen Conditions
If any hidden hazards or safety risks are discovered after work has already begun, we reserve the right to pause services. We will provide an immediate update, and any additional hazard fees or timeline changes must be approved in writing before work can resume.

Short-Duration Tasks
4-hour minimum booking per session, per organizer.
Tasks under 4 hours are billed at the standard 4-hour minimum per organizer.
Daily Travel & Errand Fees
Commute: No fee for locations within a 15-mile radius (one-way). Any travel distance exceeding a 30-mile roundtrip is billed at $0.76/mile per organizer.
On-the-Job Errands: Active session driving—such as dropping off donations or sourcing products—is billed at our standard hourly organizing rate.
Errand Mileage: All miles accumulated during active on-the-job errands are billed at $0.76/mile.
Payment Terms
Booking Deposit: A 50% deposit of the total project labor estimate plus 100% of the agreed-upon supply budget for organizational products, bins, and containment solutions is required to secure your booking date. Work will not be scheduled or initiated until this combined payment is received.
Final Balance: The remaining balance of the labor estimate, along with any final adjustments for additional supplies used, is due immediately upon project completion.
Cancellation Policy
We require a minimum of 72 hours’ written notice via email for all cancellations.
Cancellations with 72+ hours' notice: Your deposit will be fully transferred to your new date.
Cancellations within 72 hours: Will result in the forfeiture of your deposit, equal to 50% of the total project estimate.
Note: We respect your time and commitment to transforming your space. In the rare event that we must reschedule your session, we promise to provide a minimum of 72 hours' notice, except in cases of sudden illness or unsafe winter driving conditions/canyon closures. If we must reschedule inside this window, you will receive priority booking for our next available date.

The In-Home Consultation & Mapping
A preliminary meeting maps out the layout of the new home and reviews the client's operational goals. Together, high-priority areas (such as kitchens and primary bedrooms) are identified to ensure they are fully operational on day one. This initial alignment establishes the overall project scope, organizing goals, and timeline.
Pre-Move Editing & Purging
To ensure you only pay to pack, move, and unpack items that serve your new chapter, we guide you through a comprehensive pre-move edit. We help you systematically sort through your current belongings to identify what to keep, sell, donate, or discard before the movers arrive. By lightening the load early, we streamline the packing process, reduce your moving company costs, and ensure your new home is entirely clutter-free from day one.
Spatial Design & Planning
An intuitive layout is mapped out for the new home to optimize each room’s natural flow. Organizing systems are custom-designed for closets, pantries, and storage areas before unpacking begins. If requested by the client, appropriate storage tools, containers, and bins are mapped out to maximize the available space.
Turnkey Unpacking & Systematic Setup
This is where the new house truly becomes a home. The service handles the complete unpacking of boxes delivered by the moving company. Every item is thoughtfully sorted, categorized, and placed into the pre-designed organizational systems. Everyday workflows are established so that everything from daily dishes to morning routines functions flawlessly from the start.
Visual Styling & Reveal
Belongings are beautifully arranged and styled to marry sophisticated aesthetics with functional accessibility. A complete walk-through is provided to introduce the new organizational systems, ensuring the client can step right in and comfortably enjoy the new chapter.
Post-Project Logistics
Empty boxes are flattened and stacked neatly for disposal. Any remaining post-project details, such as organizing final layout adjustments or coordinating organizing product returns, are handled efficiently to leave the environment completely clean and clutter-free.
Please Note: While we provide pre-move editing strategy and post-move organization, this service is not a moving company. We do not provide moving trucks, transport items between properties, or manage, direct, or oversee the third-party moving crew on move-in day. Clients are fully responsible for hiring and managing their chosen moving company independently to physically pack, transport, and place the boxes into their designated rooms.

Define Your Priorities

Pause all product purchases
Please do not buy new bins or baskets yet; we will measure and source products after we sort and purge.
Gather basic supplies
Ensure you have trash bags, empty cardboard boxes for donations, and any basic cleaning supplies handy.
Complete laundry or prep work
If we are organizing a closet or bedroom, please ensure all clothing is washed and dried beforehand. If you would like me to take care of the laundry for you, I can absolutely do that, but please note that it will add extra time to our session.
Isolate sensitive items
Secure any private paperwork, medications, or high-value valuables you do not want handled during the session.
Your Role During the Project
You do not need to be present while we work. However, we ask that you remain available via phone or text to make editing decisions. We will also conduct a final walkthrough together to ensure the new layout fits your needs perfectly.

It is difficult to provide an exact time-frame for organizing a space because every project depends on several unique variables. However, I will always provide a realistic estimate after our initial consultation. If anything changes along the way, I will let you know as soon as possible so we can figure out how to proceed—whether you want to stay within budget by adjusting the scope, or if you approve a larger budget to finish everything.
Key Factors That Affect the Timeline
Size and layout: The physical dimensions and structural flow of the room.
Volume of items: The total amount of clutter and density of objects requiring sorting.
Condition of the space: Extreme clutter that makes it hard to move around, or a need for basic cleaning, will add extra time.
Laundry and garment care: If we need to wash, dry, or fold clothing before sorting, it will extend the session duration.
Decision-making speed: How quickly you can comfortably decide what to keep, donate, or discard.
Product preferences: Whether we focus on repurposing your existing bins or sourcing new organizing products.
